The Undead

The dead still remember what it was to be beautiful.

Death took her life.

It did not take the memory of who she was.

Caught between beauty and decay, The Undead depicts a figure suspended between two worlds — one half still carrying the face she once knew, the other surrendering to the inevitable ruin beneath.

Yet even as her body disappears, traces of beauty remain.

The roses.
The jewellery.
The lace.
The memory of the woman beneath the decay.

Because perhaps death does not erase who we were.

Perhaps something of us remembers.

THE ARTWORK

Beneath a full moon and surrounded by forgotten gothic ruins, the portrait is divided between life and death.

One side remains hauntingly beautiful.

The other fractures away into bone, ash and darkness, revealing the skull beneath as the decay spreads through her hair and clothing.

Black roses frame the composition while restrained antique-gold details run through the darkness, preserving a sense of elegance even as the figure begins to disappear.

At the foot of the artwork sit the words that define the piece:

THE DEAD STILL REMEMBER
WHAT IT WAS TO BE BEAUTIFUL.

Created as a piece of wearable gothic art, The Undead explores one of the recurring ideas behind Judas The Unholy:

Beauty and darkness do not have to be opposites.

The artwork is deliberately macabre without relying on gore — combining gothic horror, mortality and beauty into a single portrait.

A reminder that even when everything physical is eventually taken from us, perhaps the memory of what we were remains.
